This site

Built in ten days and 218 commits, every page its own world, my things modelled in 3D from my own photos.

This site's box, as a model kit's comes: brandonctran.com printed across its top, Home's shelf in miniature through its clear window with the six worlds in their rooms and my things on top, Home's green wall behind them, and the worlds' names in coloured labels along its foot.
The first frame of parts, in grey plastic: Home's six rooms in a row, each world's toy in its room under a clear capsule.
The second frame: my lamp's beehive shade, our three framed photos, and the tag with my autograph.
The third frame: my G70, my Luka cap, my backpack, my Owala, my ProArt and work's MacBook, the crystal Snoopy and the clay frog.

What's in the box

How it's built

  1. My Genesis G70 in silver, a toy of it as it stands on Home's shelf.
A pencil drawing of the G70 taken apart: its shell lifted off the cabin, its wheels pulled out to its sides, dashed lines back to where they go.

    My G70off frame 3

    1. My actual car, a G70 3.3T Sport Prestige in Savile Silver
    2. The real two-tone 19s, red brakes behind them
    3. On Home its doors, hood and trunk open, and its wheels drive
  2. Winnie as a toy, sitting on his round base in his bandana.
A pencil drawing of Winnie's toy sitting on his round base, his curls and his bandana drawn in.

    Winnieoff frame 1

    1. Winnie, my cavapoo, who has his own TikTok
    2. On Home he'll wear my glasses and my caps
    3. Throw my avatar at him and he takes its sweater, then its whole look
  3. My Fujifilm X-T3 in silver and black, with the XF23 and its hood.
A pencil drawing of my X-T3 from the front: its dials, the viewfinder's hump, the lens and its hood.

    My X-T3off frame 1

    1. Its dials knurled and engraved, the A in orange, as on mine
    2. The camera I shoot Brandon Tran Visuals on
    3. On Photos it's the shutter, and a print comes out of it

How it grew

  1. Oct 155 commits

Day one was stone grey and black type, with a few stickers you could pick up and throw.

Home on Oct 15: hi, i'm brandon, i love making cool things, in black on a grey ground, beside stickers of a photo of us, my avatar, my Roblox group, Winnie, my glasses and Field Day's chip.
  2. Oct 1649 commits

The wall went denim, my name went into my own handwriting, and Work started building my avatar piece by piece.

    • “The stickers move. Pick one up.”
    • The generated lettering
Home on Oct 16: the same words lettered on a denim wall, cool things swiped in red, my stickers round them.
  3. Oct 1734 commits

Playground went through seven versions in one day before the one that stuck, my hobbies as toys adrift in a night sky. About became a toy map with the cars I drove.

    • Playground's six other tries
Home on Oct 17: the greeting in bold on the denim wall, cool things swiped in red, the stickers round a photo of us.
  4. Oct 1839 commits

The rule the whole site runs on arrived, every page its own world. Field Day got its desert night, Winnie his lilac and About its map board.

    • The Lately wall
Home on Oct 18: the denim wall with the photo of us bigger and my stickers moved round it.
  5. Oct 195 commits

Home got a shelf, and my backpack, my Owala, both laptops, Snoopy and the frog moved onto it.

Home on Oct 19: my shelf on the denim wall, each world's toy in its cubby, my things on top and our photos framed above.
  6. Oct 2012 commits

The shelf became my Ebba, six painted rooms with a toy in each. The wall turned matcha, the neon came down, and a light switch now turns the whole wall into space.

    • The denim wall on Home
    • The neon autograph
Home as Oct 20 left it: the wall matcha, my lamp over our photos, the shelf an Ebba with each world's toy in its painted room.
  7. Oct 2129 commits

My living room's lamp, my actual car and my autograph, painted in the red of the “i love you so much” wall in Austin, all landed on Home.

Home on Oct 21: my silver G70 on the shelf, my autograph in the mural's red, my lamp lit over our photos.
  8. Oct 226 commits

Phones caught up, and that mural's red became the site's one red.

Home on Oct 22: the wall in the mural's leaf green, cool things swiped in its red.
  9. Oct 2312 commits

The green went softer, Winnie and Field Day moved to the end of the row, and the whole site went into a box.

Home on Oct 23: the wall a pastel matcha, Winnie and Field Day closing the shelf's row.
  10. Oct 2427 commits

After midnight my caps started fitting Winnie's head, and the mirror got its real back, Raspberry Pi and all. By morning Home's shelf took the nav's order, and Projects got a room of its own, my racing sim in it.

    • Field Day's room on Home
Home on Oct 24: the shelf in the nav's order, my racing sim in Projects' room, and Winnie in his room wearing my Luka cap, fitted to his head.
